The process that starts with the growing of grapes and ends with the making of wine spans several seasons. Winemaking at Château de Pommard would not be possible without the human touch. Philippe Charlopin, master winemaker, and Dominique Guillon, master grower, keep a close eye on the earth and the vines.
When the time comes to pick the grapes, each bunch is treated meticulously according to ancestral precepts. The grapes are picked and sorted by expert hands, and only the finest ones are pressed.
Picking is followed by maceration and gentle fermentation, turning the grape juice into wine. Then the wine is left to mature for fifteen to eighteen months in oak casks made of wood from the best forests by reputed coopers. Every climate has its own alchemy, and produces its own nectar. Its name is known across the world, Château de Pommard!
