The Wine Advocate is a bi-monthly wine publication established in 1978 by American wine critic Robert M. Parker, arguably the most influential wine critic in the world. Today, a 100-point Parker score can make or break a wine brand. William Kelley, key editor of the The Wine Advocate tasted from our Clos Marey-Monge Monopole 2016. Here are his comments.
Clos Marey-Monge Monopole 2016: 91/100
“The 2016 Pommard Clos Marey Monge offers up an appealing bouquet of cherries, orange rind and dried flowers, framed by rich bass notes of clove spice, dark chocolate and creamy new oak. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with supple tannins, succulent acids and its 30% new oak nicely integrated into the wine’s structure. Our winemaking team reports that while half of the harvest was lost to frost, the best parcels of this large enclosed vineyard were spared.”

William Kelley developed a love of wine while studying at Oxford, where he presided over the University’s prestigious Wine Circle for three years while completing a doctorate in history. In addition to tastings with many of the Old World’s greatest producers, he brought many of California’s most celebrated and exciting wineries to Oxford for the first time.
