5 Tips To Launch Your Career In Wine

If, like some of our students, you are planning to open your own winery or become a sommelier, then taking a WSET course in wines is a must.

The three levels of WSET training that we offer at École V allow you to further your wine knowledge and tasting skills. The WSET certifications in wines are globally recognized by professionals in the industry and will allow you to launch your career in wine.

Here are five tips to put you on the path to success as you work toward a career in wine:

1. Stay curious

At École V, we believe that with knowledge comes enjoyment. We encourage our students to discover new wines and new regions every day. The world of wine is vast, there is so much to learn! By remaining curious and open to new opportunities, you will be able to create your own professional network while gaining essential knowledge that will lead you to success.

2. Get training

To gain credibility and stand out from the crowd, you will need to have a thorough and accurate knowledge of wine. You will also need to develop your tasting skills. Choose a wine course that is compatible with your lifestyle. If you work during the week, opt for the WSET 2 intensive format over a week-end. If you live in France and have a Personal Training Account (CPF), you can use that to access our WSET courses.

3. Find the job that suits you

From production to distribution and promotion, there are many professional activities related to wine. In order to find the position that suits you, you can complete internships or volunteer missions. This will give you a glimpse of what your daily life could be like!

4. Meet professionals

The world of wine has thousands of professionals around the world who are eager to share their passion. Don't hesitate to meet and exchange with them by participating in wine shows or joining wine clubs. These new contacts will be able to guide you and assist you in your journey.

5. Get started!

As a first step, why not create a blog or run your own tasting workshops? Finding your first job in a new industry can take longer than you think. Showcase your determination and skills to stand out from the crowd!
