Every year, we welcome students from across the world to École V. Over time, we have learned something: we all share the same passion for wine and a desire to learn more about it.
Sharing knowledge, experiences and exceptional wines is the essence of wine education. Forget the teacher who talks for hours—our programs are built around fascinating discussions and unforgettable tastings.
We asked some of our latest students to share their experiences at École V. Michèle and Gilbert, a couple from the South of France, describe themselves as epicureans, interested in oenology and trying new things. Ianis, a 31-year-old steel industry worker, was born and raised in Burgundy. His passion for wine goes back to his upbringing surrounded by Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyards.
All three chose to take their wine course at École V Château de Pommard. The couple took the Level 1 Award in Wines from the Wine and Spirits Education Trust to improve their wine knowledge and tasting skills. They particularly enjoyed the scenery of Château de Pommard. “Taking the class within the domain really helps put the theory in context instantaneously,” confirms Michèle.
Ianis took the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines, using his French personal training credits (CPF). He took the intensive program, which is condensed to 2 days, to align his wine course with his work schedule.
Our three students really appreciated the structure of the class, and highlighted the positive energy and conviviality in the classroom. “The classroom allowed me to feel part of a group and share my thoughts and knowledge more easily,” mentions Ianis.
With tastings at the heart of every course, École V focuses on biodynamic and organic wines sourced from some of the most remarkable producers worldwide. Ianis still remembers the Tokaji Aszu. The diversity of Italian wines piqued Michèle’s interest, while Gilbert confessed what happened when tasting Port: “I even ignored the advice of the instructor and drank it to the last drop! Such a nectar, you have to savour it.”
What’s next for our students after receiving their WSET® certifications? The world of wine is an endless source of discovery. While Michèle and Gilbert look forward to exploring Burgundy during their future holidays and trying more international wines, Ianis plans to take his WSET Level 3 in Wines soon and ponders, “Why not change careers later on and open a wine shop to pursue my passion as a job? It’s definitely something I’m considering.”
Whether you’re a wine lover or professional, École V is here to accompany you in the immense adventure that is the world of wine. With locations in Paris and Pommard and a range of WSET courses and formats, we have a program to challenge you and help you become a true wine expert.
