Celebrating Nature: Château de Pommard unveils the 2018 vintage from its 20 hectares vineyard, Clos Marey-Monge, now available at En-Premier price

Château de Pommard, Burgundy, is pleased to announce the release of its Clos Marey-Monge 2018 wines, alongside a new tasting experience which focuses on the vintage effect contributing to make exceptional cuvees.

Each year, Château de Pommard unveils its signature wine: Clos Marey-Monge Monopole, a blend of six cuvées made from distinct terroirs - Simone, Chantrerie, Nicolas-Joseph, Grands Esprits, 75 Rangs, and Micault. Therefore, each wine has the specialty of representing the diversity of the soils within the vineyards, enabling the six individual wines to be tasted on their own. The estate has expertly put together two wine collections of either 3 or 6 bottles, gathering the essence of Clos Marey-Monge’s 2018 vintage, now available at En-Premier prices of respectively 277€ and 519€. Customers can purchase these collections directly on Château de Pommard’s website.

Meanwhile, Château de Pommard, to mark the release of the 2018 vintage, will also announce the Clos-Marey-Monge Vintage Experience: a tailor-made experience for customers wishing to understand the vintage effect, through a tasting of the various expressions of the estate’s most iconic cuvée. The Vintage Experience will be available for visitors at the estate (55€ /person) and online (20€ /person)  as of July 1st and can be accompanied by two elegant 3-bottles and 6-bottles Vintage wine collections, also available online at En-Premier prices (328€ and 619€).

In 2018, beautiful spring weather preceded a sweltering, dry summer which enabled very good yields while grapes were harvested quite early, at the end of August and the beginning of September. Alongside terroir, grape variety, and human intervention, weather conditions are paramount in creating unique cuvees create unique cuvées, each with their own qualities and aging potential.

“A sunny vintage marked by dryness. The magic of blending operates once again, bringing freshness and a saline touch to our Clos Marey-Monge 2018.” Emmanuel Sala, Winemaker

Clos Marey-Monge Monopole 2018:

With its brilliant, bright ruby color and purple undertones, our Clos Marey-Monge Monopole 2018 is a complex, generous, and aromatic wine. The nose, flattering, reveals delicately powdered aromas along with notes of dried flowers, fresh roses, and black fruit, highlighted by iodine, a finely peppery note. The palate is fresh, round, and generous, while the tannins are silky with a light sweetness. The very full finish gives this powerful wine an airy side.
