Andreas Larsson, Tasted 100% Blind

Andreas Larsson was born in Stockholm. He started his career as a chef, then fell in love with the world of wine while visiting Burgundy, in 1996. Following this trip, he decided to become a sommelier. Andreas Larsson has participated in many tasting competitions and was elected 2007 World’s Best Sommelier.

He agreed to taste two of our most prestigious cuvées, Simone 2017 and Clos Marey-Monge 2016. Here are his reviews:

Clos Marey-Monge Simone 2017: 94 points

“Medium deep ruby red colour. Intense, floral and seductive nose showing sweet raspberry, plum, clove, ginger, fine oak and spice notes. The palate is pure and dense with fine proportions, fine oak and toast with pain d’épices notes, sweet and seductive fruit, very fresh and bright, yet with density and texture and a long sexy finish.”

Clos Marey-Monge Monopole 2016: 91 points

“Bright medium deep ruby red colour. Youthful nose displaying some earthy notes, wild berries, leather and tobacco with fine oak underneath. Rather full palate, youthful with high extract and acidity, savoury red fruit underneath, yet in need of further cellaring to open, nice density and length. Should develop truly well.”

About Tasted Blind 100%

“From the beginning, back in the 90’s when he was a young sommelier, Andreas Larsson was a firm believer in blind tasting as the only true way to taste wine. The absolute objectivity of blind tasting allows the taster to focus exclusively on his or her senses, without preconceptions about the wine clouding their judgement. Andreas focused mainly on that tasting approach when on his quest to become Best Sommelier of the World, a goal he reached in 2007; and he attributes his success largely to his dedication to blind tasting all levels of wine and spirits.”
