Soils

On the steep slopes of the Hill of Corton, among the limestone-rich, marly soils at the intersection of the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits, lies Corton-Charlemagne. This is the perfect terroir for producing powerful yet elegant Chardonnay with an exceptionally long finish. Designated Grand Cru in 1937, the Corton-Charlemagne vineyard covers the villages of Aloxe-Corton, Pernand-Vergelesses, and Ladoix-Serrigny.
