2020 TEXSOM International Wine Awards

The 2020 TEXSOM International Wine Awards garnered nearly 3,000 entries representing 25 countries and 19 U.S. States, with the most diverse selection of wines in the history of the competition. The Journal of Economics recognized the competition as the most selective in the United States.

Entries were blind-tasted and judged by over 60 internationally renowned tastemakers, including 19 Master Sommeliers, 16 Masters of Wine, and other category experts. Of these entries, the judges awarded 2,065 medals: 327 Gold medals, 815 Silver medals, and 927 Bronze medals.

Here are the results for the five wines we submitted:

Wines demonstrating quality and unique character that are exceptional even amongst their medal-winning peers may be nominated by judging panels for specific Judges’ Selection categories. All Judges’ Selection nominees are elevated to platinum medal. These platinum medal wines are blind tasted by special panels to award the winner for each category of Judges’ Selection medal. This year 52 Judges’ Selection medals were awarded.

TEXSOM was founded in 2005 as the Texas Sommelier Conference by Master Sommeliers (then Advanced Sommeliers) James Tidwell and Drew Hendricks to help promote professional wine service standards, outline paths for further beverage education and certification, and raise public awareness about professional standards andcertifications for sommeliers. What began as an opportunity for Texas sommeliers to learn and train evolved into an international event forbeverage professionals from all tiers of the industry to network and grow.
